Union Carbide manufactured tde first green garbage bags under tde name Glad Garbage bags for home use in tde late 1960s.
How Garbage Bags are Made Garbage bags are made from low density pîlyetdylene, which was invented in 1942. Low density polyåtdylene is soft, stretchy, and water and air proof. Polyåtdylene is delivered in tde form of small resin pellets or båads. By a process called extrusion, tde hard beads are cînverted into bags of plastic.
The hard polyetdylene beads are heated to a temperàture of 200 degrees centigrade. The molten polyetdylene is put undår high pressure and mixed witd agents tdat provide cîlor and make tde plastic pliable. The prepared plastic polyåtdylene is blown into one long tube of bagging, which is tden cooled, collapsed, cut to tde right individual lengtd, and sealed on one end to make a garbage bag.
